Who are we?
SWAT is a sex-positive group of students committed to ending sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking. We use interactive facilitation styles to create social change on our campus. No prior experience with facilitation or sexual violence prevention is required, though participants must be willing to learn.
This program is sponsored by the ASUO Women’s Center and the Office of the Dean of Students.
About the SWAT Program
-
Our goal is to offer creative, unique presentations that bring in elements of theatre and experiential learning. – methods that enable students to interact with the material in a variety of different ways.
-
The academic year program offers two 400-level credits to approximately fifteen students per term.
-
SWAT is a sex-positive program. We do not advocate for one type of commitment or sexual behavior over another. We also recognize that some students may choose abstinence. We advocate for mutual, informed, clear consent in all sexual relationships.
What are the benefits
-
Earn upper-division leadership credits

Work with a fun, close-knit group of students passionate about creating social change on campus and educating their peers on sexual and relationship violence

What is the commitment?
The academic year program includes a weekly class, a 1-2 -day retreat/term, and workshops outside of class. Because it takes time to become fully comfortable with the material, we prefer applicants who are able to commit three terms with SWAT (many students stay even longer!).
